RE-jected...

I got a letter from the Chief of Police today, denying me of a CCW Permit. It claims that I have insufficient reason to carry a handgun in public.

Work was a bit strange, lots of calls and of difficult ones, turns out that I didn't have to start till 0600 and actually started at 0400... I didn't mind since that I don't have much to do anyway.

The drive on the way home was very tiring and the traffic was heavy. kept trying to stay awake. The heat was a bit much, no cool breeze, only a hot wind blowing through the car.

On the bright side, my high capacity magazine rebuild kit arrived, but won't be able to pick it up until Saturday. I'll also have 2 more high capacity magazines on order.

Synopsis of everything up to this date...

Well another month is coming to a close and nothing entered into my daily journal, maybe I should just put a synopsis of the month instead...

Well, I've applied for my CCW permit and will find out, hopefully in August on the 6th or 7th. I already own a 12 gauge shotgun and a Glock 10 mm handgun. I guess the next logical step would be to sign up for classes and get a degree in Law Enforcement.

I'll find out about getting financial aid soon so that I can sign up for classes. I'll be going to a Law Enforcement handgun training course in September in Oregon. That should be a fun trip.

Well, I guess more later...

Thunder Bunnies - GO!

I couldn't sleep until about 5:00 am, just as fate would have it, the Thunder Bunnies upstairs decided to have some fun... Now the reason that I have named them the Thunder Bunnies is 2 fold, the first is because when they walk, they walk pretty heavy and are always making noises, being dropping things on the floor or stumbling. They don't care about anyone living below them (me). The second is because they seem to have sex almost everyday.

So anyway, I lay down to sleep and I hear the squeaking of the bed and her moaning out loudly, at one point I think they're doing it doggie style because she gets louder as if facing or being up against the wall. Now it seems that his stamina is getting better because this time it lasted what seemed to be about half an hour. Oh, and I think his name is Patrick, or at least that's what it sounded like when she was calling out his (more like yelling it out) name.

I guess it can't be helped, they're young and I'm getting old... maybe I'll end up being the cranky old man that lives downstairs...lol

Well, today started out interesting, because the first thing I get there I have to rewrite a report that I opened for a shaking screen at one of the ticket offices, it seems that a "Field Engineer" didn't like the way I worded the additional comments. I wonder about these so called "FE"'s because it seems that they only do a half a** job when they do something. Then they think that their doing a good job. I think that I could do a better job then they could, when it comes to either replacing a part... the last tech had called the location and just settled for "oh it's ok now" and didn't bother to double check to make sure that it was ok... I understand that they have more to do now, but why not make sure it's fixed the first time around and not have to keep going back?

Oh well, enough dwelling on that, till next time...

Budgets, Movies and The Thunder Bunnies...

Well, yesterday I blew my budget for next week, made the mistake of going to the gun shop to look for accessories for my Glock and ended up buying a Shotgun, a Mossberg 590 12 gauge pump shotgun. Came with a pistol grip if I want to change from the full stock to just a pistol grip. I wished that it came with the heat shield instead, but I can pick that up for an additional $27.00 plus shipping. It's the same type of shot gun used by the Military and Law Enforcement use. I just hope that I can go fire off a couple of shells at the range soon.

I finally got to go see Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menance. The theater was THX equipped and was pretty good, now I can't wait to see Episode II and III.

The latest news about the people upstairs: I'm really begining to hate this guy's car, he has a car alarm and comes and goes at all hours turning off and on his car alarm, the bad part about it is that he parks right in front of my window... Not only that, but his girlfriend is a screamer... lately they've been quiet, but one morning I was woken up by her... I listened for about 3 minutes then went back to sleep.

Other than that, I'm ready for hunting season, so Bambi, Watch Out, I'll be looking for ya... and I'll need to get a fishing license soon because lately the fish have been biting.

With summer here I want to get out and go fishing and can't wait for hunting season... :)

Till next time...

Teeth, Japan and the Glock...

It was a nice day, but ended up storming in the late afternoon. My filling for one of my molars fell out, but have temporaryly filled it with orthodental wax.

It was a slow day this evening. Not much going on in the world of computers at Northwest Airlines, took care of some things that came over the teletype, mostly in Japan. Suprised them when I answered them back in Japanese... :)

Hopefully this coming week, I'll have the chance to get to the gun range to do some shooting.... Went twice the week before last so I didn't go this past week. Iching to try out my handgun with the new slip on grip that I got for it.

I guess that's it for now. More later...

In Need of Motivation..

Well, spent the day doing nothing, it's hard to keep a website up and only if your "inspired" can you still keep it up. I wanted to go to the gun range today to practice my aim and to try out the new slip on grip that I just put on, but the weather was bad and I had to pay my rent which was late...not a good thing... but I'm paid up for this month.

I was also supposed to wash laundry, but got caught up in a new game that I got, Fleet Commander from Jane's, it's just like Harpoon but better because you can micro manage the fleet and do missions all over the world.

I wanted to go see Star Wars yesterday, but found out that the tickets were sold out in advance, even the 3:45 AM show, yep thats right, 3:45 AM. I found out that the theater at the Mall of America ended up showing it 24 hours. I guess I can wait till next time.

Right now on Show Time, they're showing the new episodes of Spawn. Very dark but interesting.

Well, I guess till next time.

Glock fun

I went shooting yesterday to get out some frustrations, shot a 97% out of 50 rounds. Not bad... Installed a new stainless steel guide rod in the Glock which helped. I was using Blazer 200 grain rounds, which made for an interesting shooting.

On the 18th, was thinking of going to see Star Wars, but the only open show is at 3:15 and 3:45 AM at the Mall of America...I might go, should be interesting to go see a movie that early in the morning.

Well, I guess that's it for now, I'll try to keep up my journal. Check you all laters...

May 1999

Well, yesterday I passed my Basic Handgun Self-Defense Course and am now able to get a concealed carry license. It was an interesting course that dealt with Y2K, Self defense and survival. We also got to train shooting in the dark which was very interesting. Out of 18 rounds that I shot in the dark, I hit 17 and missed one...4 to the head...

Today was real slow at Sam Goody so they let me go home early. It was a beautiful day, but got caught up with a movie and didn't go out till late, walked to the store and back to pick up some stuffs...

I hope that tomorrow I'll have the time to go to the range before going into work at Sam Goody to pratice what I leared from Saturday. Well, I guess that's it for now... Will write more later... and maybe I'll get a picture of me and my gun on my site...

Place Holder

Well, nothing for this month and year... Been busy trying to survive...

Thursday, March 11, 1999

My only entry for March...

Well today I'm 33 years old, not much going on so far, feeling a bit broke and a bit older... but glad that I don't have to work today.

I'm not sure what I'll do today, but I guess I'll figure out something. I bought more ammo for my gun yesterday, loaded up the magazines and am set, hopefully I'll be able to go shooting on Saturday.

My aim is getting better, the last time I was hitting center mass and now have to work on my grouping.

We had a snowstorm on Monday, got a total of 16 inches of snow by Tuesday.
Well, I guess that's it... maybe more tomorrow...

Friday, February 19, 1999

Just another day

Got 2 more magazines for my handgun, but unfortunately, because the 10mm never really caught on, it'll be harder to get ammo for it (or at least I hope not) So I guess I'll be getting in the future a .40 Caliber Glock.

Oh yeah, looking forward to when the movie "Wing Commander" comes out next month, based on the video game of the same name! Another movie that looks good is 8mm, guess I'll be keeping busy...

Either way, I'm all set to go to the gun range and shoot of some rounds. Good thing I'm off tomorrow. Well, I guess more tomorrow...

My first ride-a-long

Last night went to visit a friend who is a police officer and got to ride along with him. Was interesting watching him work. First one was a traffic stop for a person going 45 in a 25 mph zone. The guy was pretty dumb, he stopped in the middle of the road, then when my friend commanded him to move off the road, he just sat there. After about 3 times he told him to move off the road, he went over to the car and talked to him.

His wife did all the talking but she wasn't the driver. I guess he felt sorry for the guy with a wife like that, so he let the guy go with a warning. We eventually went to a place that he watched the cars go by with his radar. Eventually a car sped by and we went to do a traffic stop.

After running a check on the driver a call came over that someone drove off without from the gas station without paying for the gas, so it was his lucky day, we turned around and sped off in the other direction looking for the guy. We didn't find him and drove back to the station so my friend could get a report.

Well, the rest of the evening was quiet and eventually came back home at around 2 am, I thought that I would be able to get up for work later, but ended up waking up at about 9:00 when I was supposed to be at work by 6 am.

Well, the rest was usual, but I guess that'll be that for now. More later...

10mm and Off Duty work...

Well, went to the range to fire off some rounds with my 10mm, and I must say, my hand is a bit sore from the recoil of the handgun. The first round that I fired off was a bit of a surprise, I wasn't expecting the recoil to be as much as it did. After the next couple of rounds, I got used to the weapon.

As for today, well, it was an exciting day. I was planning on going to drink my beverage that I had just purchased when 4 young gentlemen walked into the store, I had a feeling that they were going to do something so I told the Store Manager to hold my bottle and I proceeded to watch them. About 15 minutes later, I heard a wrapper of a CD being removed, I had just turned to look because one of them was nervously looking at me, when I saw one of them crushing up a CD wrapper and place it into his pocket.

As they were walking to the entrance of the store, I took a quick look in the area that they were in and found an empty CD security case and then informed the Manager that they had stolen a CD. He then went after them and had another clerk call the Mall security.

After returning he said that he confronted the 4 young men and they threatened him when he asked them to turn out they're pockets. Eventually he had let them go.

Well, I guess that’s it for my exciting day, cleaned and oiled up the Glock, magazines are full and ready for anything that might happen, which I hope that they don't, but it sure gives me a feeling of security with a weapon ready just in case. Oh, and I do make sure that the weapon is unloaded and no round is in the chamber, but do have the magazines close by in case I have to lock and load.

New Toy

Another couple of days has gone by, and no new entries...until today. Thursday I finally bought a Glock - G20, a 10mm handgun and have been anxious to fire off a couple of rounds at the shooting range. Seems like every time I go and buy something major, the weather is kinda bad, when I went to pick it up on my lunch hour from work, it was snowing pretty heavy and the roads were very icy.

That day, I thought I had to get to work by 5:00 pm, but it turned out that I didn't work at all that night. I decided to stay around a bit and see if the person that was supposed to work would be able to make it in, if not, I volunteered to cover for her. Well, she showed up so I went home.

When I got home, I tried to see if the holster that I got for it would fit, but it didn't, and it turns out that the extra clip that I got was the wrong one. I think that the sales person that sold it to me didn't know his firearms.

Well, I had to work today at 10 am, got into work late, but because I do a good job there, I was forgiven. Work was boring, mostly because during the week it's slow at the mall, so nothing major went on. After work I decided to see if I could find a store that carried the holster and magazine that I needed for my handgun, but didn't find it. I ended up getting hearing and eye protection for when I go shooting.

Tomorrow, I'll go return the items and see if they have the correct parts that I need. If not, then I'll just get a refund. I hope that my friend will get up in time so that we can go shooting at the range tomorrow.

Till then...

A somewhat exciting day

Well, now I know that I've been slacking...but work comes first, then studying for the MCSE in NT, then the website, if they had a MCSE for Frontpage 98, I'd be studying that...

Last night a friend came over, hate to say but he's worse at money matters than I! He seems like he's always in debt, living in a place that's waaaayyyyy beyond his means and working for a company that doesn't pay they're employee's (slaves) enough.

In a way I was glad that I was let go from Micron, but I wished that I wasn't stupid to let them let me go and leave on my own. In a sense, it was for the best, kinda like a cold slap in the face to wake me up from my long slumber...

I keep urging him to move on and find something that would pay more, but I guess when you get comfortable in a job, you just don't want to leave, no matter how bad it really is. I was like that, but I know that he won't listen.

Today was an interesting day, towards the end of my day at Northwest, I kinda saved the day...lol I got a call from a department that needed to have the connection to the alliance airlines up and available, but after checking, it wasn't what it should have been. I checked with the networking people and they checked with the airline mutual database to find out that no one had known that the line was down. I then created a trouble report for them to check on it and had to call the person in charge of the alliance.

That pretty much made my day. After that, I went to the sporting goods store and ordered a Glock, 10 mm in a 4.60 inch barrel (total length: 7.62 inches) I can't wait to get it next week, then I can finally go target shooting or hunting...

Well, I guess I'll call it a day, I'm pretty tired from all the excitement...must be getting old....hahahaha

Slackin...

I guess I've been slacking with the updates to this journal, but then again, I could just put, same as yesterday...lol (or same ol' s***, different day...)

Yesterday I just had to have some Ribs, so after picking up my paycheck from Sam Goody, I went to a place called "The Rib Shack", if you should ever come up to Minnesota, and love ribs, then you'll just have to go there. I think the owner is the same person that makes the "Famous Dave's" BBQ sauce.

Paid my rent before I sat down to eat and having to go to work... all that night after that, I was stuffed... had that ol' Polynesian Paralysis creeping over me, but I coped... I also ended up buying the Special edition of Blade Runner so after I got home, I watched it.

I guess not much going on for today, I need to return the Visual Studio 6.0 tonight to my friend, maybe end up going out to do something...but with his new child, don't think so, but if I can, I'll see if he'll let me use his net connection, he's got the cable modem and that way I can download some self study courses from the Company I'm employed by, one of the files was about 12 megs!

Oh well, till tomorrow or later tonight...

New Movie, Old Car

Gee, has it been that long since I've last updated this page? Doesn't seem like about 3 days has gone by since the last entry, and that was last month!

Well, Tuesday, one of the staff at Sam Goody got sick and since I was there, they asked me to work that night...boy was I tired! I was pretty much draggin at the end of the night, but found out that Blade on DVD is on sale for $19.99... I just might have to get it, also found Willie Wonka and the Chocolate factory... but I also want to get Blade Runner, the special edition... oh well... one or the other...

Today was pretty usual and not much happening at Northwest Airlines... but I did get a recall notice on my 86 Mercury Sable, it seems that the engine mount bolts have a tendency to get corroded and eventually the engine will fall out... I'll have to take it in soon and have it corrected. Maybe something that I can do tomorrow....

Well, I guess that's it... maybe more tomorrow...

Money, money, money...

Well, nothing exciting happened yesterday, just stayed home and did nothing but play on the computer...Wing Commander the DVD version... so I'll just put what happened today which was pretty exciting...

The supervisor at Sam Goody called and asked if I could come in early by an hour... I thought I was off so that was a pretty quick wake up call. After the much of the same thing, organizing things and such, about half way through the day, some idiot decided he was going to run out of the store without removing the security tag...pretty stupid! One of the clerks ran after him, and didn't come back for a bit, was wondering if he was in with the guy or got hurt trying to take him down...

That was about all the excitement for today. Got my taxes done after Micron decided to take they're sweet time in sending me my W-2... Going to get back about $985.00 total from both the state and the gov. Woo Hoo!!

I'm hoping to pay off my bills, but then again, I want a larger monitor, or a bigger TV than the 13" one that I have or get the 10mm that I've wanted for a while... but I think the bills are going to come first before any of the other things... I can always save up and get the other "wants" later...

Well, guess that's it for today... till the next time... Oh, and I had a very bizarre dream that I can only remember bits and pieces of, but because of it, I won't put it down...hopefully the next one will be in more detail and I can remember it...

Computer DVD!!

Well, skipped a couple of days, nothing much going on with the past couple of days... I've been playing with Asteroids the 90's version, pretty cool! That and the DVD version of Wing Commanders "Price of Freedom"... Last night I ended up buying 3 DVD's and watched them all... Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and Top Gun.

I had Top Gun when I used to have a Laser Disc player so I decided to get it, was looking for Pink Floyds Delicate Sound of Thunder but it's not available on DVD or at least yet... But Pulse is supposed to be available soon. Was looking at Blade Runner - The directors cut, Somewhere in Time and Amadeus... I really liked Amadeus, mostly for the music.

Blade is going on Sale at Sam Goody so maybe I might get it, last night I learned that I only get a 15 percent discount on DVD's, so when it goes on sale, it'll be cheaper to get it then...

Now that I have tomorrow and Sunday off, don't know what I'll do with myself, but I guess I'll have to copy those discs before I have to return them so maybe it won't be a wasted day after all... I changed my screen resolution back to 800X600 but up'd the colors to 24 bit, and it seems that the Movies look better, might experiment a little more later...

Well, Taxes are done and submitted...GOD, I like this Telefile thing...quick and easy, but the thing that makes me a small bit nervous is that when I set up the direct deposit...hopefully it goes into the right account...

I have to get my haircut tomorrow, it's begining to give me headaches so I'll be also checking out other places that sell DVD's and seeing what they have... Till tomorrow for sure!

Tuesday, January 26, 1999

Computer fun...

Work was kind of interesting today, got calls that I'd never thought I would get so soon... good thing I was being shadowed by a vet today. Other than that not much going on...

I didn't want to come home so soon, so I ended up at Rosedale ( a very very large shopping center, bigger than Ala Moana and Pearl Ridge put together...) and took a look around... was tempted to buy a couple of movies, but instead, ended up at Best Buy and picked up a Creative Labs DVD kit for about $266.00, not bad considering that it's a 5X DVD and a 32X CD-ROM drive...

After getting it installed which is always a pain in the butt because of the cats and that I have a tower case under the desk... I didn't have sound and had to disable my MultiSound Classic because I didn't have enough IRQ's, so now I'm down to one sound card, but have 2 CD-ROM drives, one being a DVD player and the other being a CD-RW...oh well, sacrifice one for another....

Well, I guess that's it for now, it's pelting mini ice drops so the drive tomorrow should be exciting, but good thing that I start at 6:00 am so I leave at about 5:00 am...so no traffic...lol Well catch ya all laters...!

Monday, January 25, 1999

Beating Traffic

Man did I get to work early today... I thought I would see some traffic, but none at all at 5:00 AM, I got to work at about 5:30 and sat around till I had to start, was interesting...

They had me sit by myself, but side saddle of a couple of vets... and when I ran into problems, I would be able to ask them for help. There was one problem I was glad I was thorough, a user had called in and said that her printer wouldn't print, using a system that was going to be phased out.

I kept asking her for a address for the printer, but couldn't find one, so I made sure and asked one of the vets, then wrote up the report to the vendor to go out and fix. I was later approached by a supervisor who was just informing me that this printer is written up as a severity 3 and not as a severity 4, but it wasn't my fault as she said because not everyone would know... I made sure she knew that the user couldn't provide an address but I did get a serial number and tried to enter the model number of the printer, but the report wouldn't let me so I had to put "other".

She later praised me for being thorough and said that I had done a good job... :) Well...the rest of the day went on without a hitch... well, I guess that's it for now...catch ya on the flip side!

As Normal as it gets...

Today started off pretty normal... The usual happenings at Sam Goody, a friend stopped by and dropped off the Visual Studio 6.0 today and I gave him a copy of Asteroids.

About 2 hours before closing, 2 Spanish males entered the store, and I observed one of them looking about as if he was planning something, so I stuck with him, my supervisor informed me that I could go on break, but informed her of what I was doing, she then had someone else watch them while I went off on break.

After I came back, found out that one of them was trying to open the security case but ended up buying the tape because he knew he was being watched. After the store closed, we had a store meeting and they gave away some CD's, I walked away with about 20 or so...

On my way home, stopped off for some grocery shopping and picked up dinner, had a recipe that I wanted to try out, but after getting it started, I should've started the baked potatoes a while before because the filet mignon got done way before the potatoes, so I'll take half of the filet to work with me for lunch... Well, that's about it for today...more tomorrow...Ja nee!

Loss Prevention fun...

Well at least it was a bit of an exciting day, at Sam Goody today I caught 2 people about to shoplift from the store.

The first one when I was coming off from break, I had just come out of the back room and was walking to the area that was the most problematic. I had got to within 15 feet of the area when I saw a person pick up a CD, look around rather nervously, then walk around to the other side of the CD rack, as he walked to the other side, he tested the anti theft device as if to open it. He looked around a bit more then spotted me and moved towards his friends and dropped the CD into the rack, then his other friends looked over at me.

I then moved closer and stood in the area, all his friends looked rather nervous and kept looking at me, and eventually they split up and left the store one at a time. The main suspect then sat outside the store and kept looking at me after I followed him all around the store. His other friend had the nerves to actually walk close to me and at times either brush up next to me or stand close by.

The other person I had noticed several times that she and her friend kept coming into the store and she kept looking at me, then walking to the video section and stop at the end of one of the isles, every so often looking around the shelves. After about the 3rd time that she came into the store with her friend, I decided to see what she might have been doing back there, I moved one of the video tapes and found about 7 or 8 CD singles fall to the ground and everyone of them with the security tags removed.

At that point, like the last time, I notified the supervisor on duty and we kept a watch on them, eventually to try and throw me off, she purchased a single or two and then left the store with her friend.

So as you can see, it was a pretty productive day... after I got home, I got my scanner to work and scanned some stuff to give to my friend but he didn't show, got an email from him saying that he went to my work place instead... so missed, I hope that he'll get my reply and bring the stuff to the store... well, till tomorrow....

New job?

Finally woke up at about 1 P.M. and was planning on getting some things done, but ended up just sitting around the apartment till I had to go to work. Was snowing when I left and eventually it stopped sometime later this evening, in the meantime at work, it was pretty slow so the newly promoted Manager had let me and another person go home early.

I decided to hit CompUSA and check out to see what they had... wasn't planning on getting anything except blank CD-R's and ended up buying the new Asteroids, was torn between that and the new Centipide game. They had the Imation blank CD-R's in a 5 pack for $9.99, so I had to get a bunch, ended up picking up a total of 20 blanks. So I'm all set.

I met a friend that I worked with at Micron and found out that they are now just doing Corp. tech support so they don't have to do much, just replace parts...not my idea of tech support, and learned that Gateway opened up a store right across the street, so after CompUSA, I ended up checking out the Gateway store...

Well, I want to tell you all a secret, but I'll hold it until I can get a confirmation and let you know then...check you all laters!!

Cataclysmic Dream

The device was about to go off, it was a new type of destructive weapon, only organic material would be destroyed, but everything else would be intact. Could it have been a neutron bomb? I wasn't sure, but then someone had come up to me and said " What was the matter" and I replied "no time, we have to leave now!"

As we ran through the building, looking for an exit, I kept looking at the countdown, just seconds remained, then when the timer had reached all zeros, I then yelled "We’re out of time, keep going, we just might make it" all the time while the other person kept asking "What was going on?"

We crashed through the door with the exit sign above it, but there were still 2 floors that we had to get down. I could still hear people in the building, somewhere further down the hall, someone was shuffling papers or things or was it someone crying? I wasn’t sure.
Flying down the stairs, sometimes skipping 2 or 3 steps. Knowing that we just had to get out of there. As we reached our goal, the door leading to the outside, I was waiting to hear an explosion or something to indicate that the device had gone off, but nothing, just a dreaded silence.

Once again crashing through the door to the outside, thinking that we still had a distance to go and not being sure that we were going to be safe. As we walked hurriedly through the area, almost at a panicked run, not wanting to panic people, I was still unconsciously holding the timer or detonation device. I could see the people going about they’re business, not knowing of the danger that existed.

I saw a familiar face, Jessica, as she was attending to a child, wearing her pink sweater, looked at me and smiled, but I couldn't return the smile, knowing what I knew what was about to happen. I saw children playing about, people walking, enjoying what was about to be they’re last day on the face of this earth.

Just then someone that I didn’t recognize, the person that was following me out of the building, had turned to me and said "remember this, and don’t forget us" in his long dark coat, flowing in the wind as he walked he started to smoke or smolder, not a cigarette, but from all over his body.

The children that were playing in the courtyard and the people that were walking had stopped where they stood and crouched down, covering they’re faces and started to smoke rise all over they're bodies as well…

I stumbled backwards while walking and eventually fell to the ground, I started to crawl, trying to get away, watching in horror as the words burned into my mind, repeated itself over and over again, "remember this and don’t forget us, never let this happen again".
I looked at my arms from where I sat, looking for signs of smoke from my arms, knowing that the device had gone off, wondering why there wasn’t an explosion, but knowing that it had gone off.

I could see the desperation and in his and Jessica’s eyes, and the questioning look as if they were asking, why did this have to happen to me?

I sat there frozen in horror seeing the people smolder and hearing the crying from the people.

Not much going on...

Well, work was pretty quiet at Northwest Airlines... with an occasional call coming in for a password reset... getting the commands down ok and what ever I can't get, at least there is reference materials available to look up.

Well, it's been a long night...talk you you all laters...going to catch some sleep... more later tonight.

On the way to work

On the way to work today, it started snowing pretty heavy... getting there was not a problem...just that later during the night the mainframe went down where our profiles were for the software that we use... They brought it down so that they could back it up and increase performance...I guess you could call it a preventative measure...

That was really fun...NOT! People calling in and not being able to do much for them at the time until they are able to bring it back up... Things are getting easier, but its just trying to work with the reservation system that gets me... the computer part is ok, just the entries that they have to enter if you want to get information...

I guess I'll just call it a night, don't have to start until 8 PM tomorrow so that should be an interesting night, then trying to make my way home after work at 6 AM and having to fight traffic... but with the 3 days off, that should be nice...

My hobby...

Another short one, but late, can't remember what happened yesterday...oh well... Oh, yeah...got some night shots with my camera...(35 mm) using ASA 800, hope they come out so that I can post them...looked really pretty and you'll be able to see it too...if it comes out...

Promotions?

Short one today, pretty tired, but started work at Northwest at 6 AM, but according to the schedule, I was supposed to start at 5 AM... Stay there till 4 AM and went directly to Sam Goody.

Somehow I have a feeling that they want me to do more than just sales... not sure at this point, but last night and tonight, they had me assist with counting the nights totals, then the Manager told me the combo for the safe... I hope not, at this point, I don't want to be a Manager, nor do I want the responsibility of being a supervisor.

Well, anyway, going to try and catch some sleep. Pretty tired... till tomorrow...nite all!

Values, where and what are they?

Well, today at Sam Goody, there were several thefts... There was this one guy that came in 4 times, on the 5th, I started to shadow him and when I was about 8 feet away, he had the audacity to open up a CD security case and remove the CD from it and then quickly walk out the store...

At that point, I alerted the Assistant Manager and she called security. I hope they got that guy! I just can't believe the kids these days, they get money from they're parents and even with the wad of cash that they carry, they still insist on stealing!

Parents just don't give a darn nowdays or are not teaching they're children proper values... it's sad to think that this is the fate of our future. I guess like Sparks, it makes me wonder what the future will hold for us when these kids grow up and join the real world.

Well, other than that, been working on a web site for a private school, you can check it out at http://members.tripod.com/kcamn. It's still under construction so please bear with it for a bit. Well, I guess that's it for today, catch ya all tomorrow!

Pictures of Winter

Finally finished Blade today, got too sleepy to finish it last night. I was planning on taking the tapes back today, but forgot them, realized that after getting to work at Sam Goody.

Well, thought I'd keep this one short, because I finally developed the film, but still having problems with the scanner... At this time, am only able to scan 2 photos at a time... I have to call Visioneer tech support one of these days and figure out why it's doing this. With my new schedule at Northwest, I should be able to call them either Thursday or Friday.

As promised... here are the pictures...more later...

Still in training...

Smoked too many cigarretts today, oh wait, that's a Madonna song... sorry, today was an interesting day. Most of it I kinda spent by myself on the phone, the person that I was doubling with was away doing something else, then she had to go to a meeting and I got paired up with another person, but she had to do important things so I pretty much went about it alone, when I came up with some tough ones, they were there to help.

My last call of the day was a real tough one, because I ended up staying about 1/2 an hour later than I was supposed to. A user in Atlanta, Georgia was locked out of NT and someone else had used the system and didn't change it back to them so they couldn't get in no matter what they or we tried, ended up having a Field tech go out and do the sysadmin stuff...

After work, I ended up going to CompUSA and just drool over the new stuff that I couldn't get...like the new Creative Labs DVD kit...Some software, some games and other hardware like a 21 inch Monitor for $599.00... Then I ended up driving over to Sam Goody to check my start time for tomorrow.

In the end, was pretty tired and went to Blockbuster to rent some movies, just got done watching Dr.Doolittle, still got Armaggedeon and Blade so I guess I'll finish that up after I make my daily entry.

One of the web sites that I've been working on is going through a final revision and should be ready by Sunday... I hope...will keep you posted as to when it's done...I hope to also use up the rest of the film so that I can get it posted here... Well, till tomorrow...gotta finish watching those movies!

Someone turn off the throughts, its running again...

Seems like the week is going by fast, no, wait, the year went by fast... well, either way, seems as though everything is going by fast. As for the weather, it appears that they expect a warm up, to about 30 or 35 degrees, which is better than what it's been this past 2 weeks, either zero or below zero.

Right now as I sit here writing this, my mind keeps drifting... I'm thinking of the new Pentiums that are coming out this quarter, the Pentium III, originally called the Katmai. They have a 450 and a 500 megahertz coming out and by the end of this year a 600 megahertz. I was just looking up the prices of motherboards and CPU's and it seems like the prices are coming down. I can order a 300 PII for about 200 dollars and a motherboard for about 90 dollars, and the SDRAM prices are not bad either, but I need to take care of my bills and save money before I consider upgrading.

Work seemed to go by quickly today, mostly because they have me taking calls and submitting reports as I sit with a veteran. I like this better than just sitting there listening, it's not bad if it were for only about a couple of days to 2 weeks, but after the 1st month, that's kinda draggin'

This afternoon, as I left work, it started to snow lightly, was hoping that it wasn't going to snow at all, but the drive home wasn't that bad. I was planning on going to CompUSA and check out the new software (games) and maybe pick something up, but ended up falling asleep till about 10:15, so that could be a good thing, no go out, no spend money....

Well, with my thoughts jumping around and not quite coherent, I better go. More tomorrow so tune in tomorrow when Robin says: Holy Kleenex Batman, it was right under our noses and we blew it... or was it when Bishop says: I may be synthetic, but I'm not stupid.

Something familiar, something strange...

Got the pictures of that snowy hill in the back of the building of where I work, as soon as I get it developed, I'll put them here... One of the calls that I took at the help desk at Northwest that stood out today is that an employee called asking about installing Office, at first I thought it was Office 97, but it turned out that she was installing Office 6.0.

She was asking about the space available that the program needed to install, which she only had about 8 megs of space when Office needed about 80 megs. I informed her that she didn't have enough space, and wanted to find out how much space she had total of hard drive space, but first I wanted to make sure of which version of Windows she was running, after she cancelled the install, she told me she was at the program manager, at that point I knew she was running Windows 3.11.

I had her located and open file manager and read to me what it was showing at the bottom left corner, which she told me she had 49.0 total...I told her that she would have to ask for either a larger hard drive or a newer pc...

Well, made it to my other job about an hour late, but it was ok cause I called to let them know that they changed my hours and that I would be that late... At Sam Goody, it was a mall usual, quiet and not much going on... The Assistant Manager got a strange call, someone calling and asking her to play some music over the phone because she was "snow bound". She said that the caller at the end of the call told her she loved her... strange....

Well...that's it for today... more or less tomorrow...

Same ol', Same ol'

Same as yesterday, roads were still messy, of course it snowed through the night. As a matter of fact, it snowed all day today, was real beautiful to look at but awful to drive in... if I can and remember to, I'll take my camera to work and take a picture of what it looked like.

I just got to remember to take the camera and use up the film so that I can develop the film. Work was as usual, in the morning they had me sit with someone, but I think he felt that it would have been faster for him to do the work himself instead of trying to teach me what to do. I was all for it, but made for some sleepy sitting and listening....

In the afternoon, they had me paired up with another person who was real nice and understanding, took her time to make sure I was doing things correctly, but funny, ran into some that really took a bit of work... One of the problems was with a reservation agent trying to change the name in a newly created record, wouldn't let her and ended up calling the people that took care of that end, ended up spending an entire hour...

The drive home was not bad, sort of, but they expect more snow tomorrow night and I have to work at Sam Goody... Well, guess I'll be back to let you know what's been going on for that day... Oh, and not to mention, to let you know if this cold goes full steam, been feeling a bit under the weather with a sore throat...so.... got to drink a lot more water and hope for the best...

Mondays...

Hated the drive into work, was pretty messy on the roads with all that slush and snow. Work at Northwest was as usual, was supposed to have communication training, but the trainer called in sick, I would've too the way the roads were.

Sat with one of the regular employees, did the talking and the typing, and she would jump in whenever I got stuck, which was about 1 for 1. The person that I was sitting with is a single Mom, well, not quite, but thats a long and private story that I feel that I shouldn't tell, but she's friendly and very aggressive.

At one point during the day (towards the end of her shift), was helping her kind of plan her vacation, she had written down something for me to look up for her, but couldn't read her handwriting very well and thought it was something else... I just hope that she didn't take it the wrong way and file sexual harrassment charges... but anyway, we both had a good laugh...

The drive to my other work was just as dangerous and excitment filled... got to work about 15 minutes late... Work was slower than usual, even got to joke with a couple of customers...

Other than a boring day, came home and made this entry... till tomorrow...

Lazy and Irresponsible...

Well, that lazy feeling is still with me, called up Sam Goody and told them that I was going to be late, ended up not going in at all, pretty much just sat around the apartment and did nothing except play on the net and tweak my web page.

My Manager called from ARC (Alternative Resources) and told me that the supervisior of Northwest Airlines (NWA) called her to say that I've used up all of my "Get Out Of Jail Free" cards and that if I mess a last time that I'll be looking for another job... Had a feeling that this was going to happen, so no matter what now, I have to show up or call if I'm not going to be there or late, either that just show up with or without a car or if I'm sick and just die at work... I guess I want to work, but not want to work... one thing about me is that when I do work, I put in 150 percent or more and burn out quickly, which is a bad thing, and when I burn out, I really burn out.

I just wished that I was rich so that I could work when I want at what I really want... Well, I guess that's it for today, short one, but otherwise a descriptive one...

Over worked...

Can't get rid of this lazy feeling... ended up going to work late at Sam Goody, the boss there called to see where I was at... :(.

Well, not much was going on at work (as usual), there was a bit of excitement when the assistant manager ejected some patrons because they were getting loud and obnoxious. They were molesting some young women customers and even to one of the clerks there. As they were being told to leave, one of them started to get hostile, at that point, I decided that just in case, better back him up, so I came up behind the loud one and just stood there in case he tried anything. They eventually left... but the clerk that they were harassing, I decided to watch over him when he went to lunch.

So when he went to get something to eat, I shadowed him just to make sure that those idiots didn't try anything... however everything was ok... Well, at the end of the night, heading out to the car to go home, it was snowing pretty good... Had to stop off and get that blue stuff for my windshield washer... talk about fun...trying to stop in a parking lot that just got fresh snow and only having one brake working... Yes, I know, I should get them fixed and stop complaining about it, but I need to pay my bills otherwise I'll be living in an Igloo... which should be at the beginning of Feb.

Well, made it home safe and without incident... but you can tell that because of this journal entry... till tomorrow...stay warm and keep well....

Saturday, January 09, 1999

Couldn't sleep at all last night, was worried about what the Manager would say because I didn't call in to work... I finally fell asleep at around 3:00 AM and woke up at about 6:00 AM, but sat to watch the news and the traffic conditions, fell asleep again and woke up at 7:30...Da#@ going to be late... called in with car troubles (Sorry Mike if your reading this...) got ready and left for work on roads that were pretty awful!

Very slushy and slippery because the MN road crews had just plowed and dumped salt on the road... Drove like a retiree... On the way there, about half way, the car in a long line of cars had slowed down... still only one brake working out of 4... started sliding so quickly I switched lanes with a pickup coming up quickly behind in the other lane that I switched to...too quickly...

As soon as I made the lane change, he slowed waaaaayyyyy down. My heart pounding and me swearing to myself. After getting to work about an hour late, the manager asked why I didn't call...gave her my story and she told me that I should've called and that this is beginning to become a habit... (I really felt guilty and didn't want to lose this job because I liked the people and the atmosphere). I apologized and felt a dread all day.

For the first couple of hours I sat with someone, I did the talking and typing... and she, the person that I was sitting with, being very aggressive, jumped in when I got stuck... Thank You!! After lunch went to a Network Communication lecture and tried to stay awake...got a lot out of the class and how Northwest Airlines networks its computers...

Well, at the end of the day, forgot to get my time card signed, guess I'll have to make the drive back so that I can get paid next week, went into my other job, but as usual was pretty quiet...bought a new Yo-yo, if my fiancée found out how much it costs, she'd kill me... :) On the way to my second job, realized that I needed to fill up my gas tank... after work went to fill it up, while standing there, saw that the temperature on the bank clock was about -2 and the wind-chill felt like it was about -20.

Was debating on getting something to eat but wasn't hungry so I came home and made my daily entry for this journal... and I guess that's about it for this day... hope that you come back and find out more about my goings on here...

Friday, January 08, 1999

Well, it's still cold outside but very pretty... Snow on the ground but with that temperature being about -6 degrees and a wind-chill of about -10, it's pretty cold...Hawaii it is not... and after checking the weather forecast, they predict that there is going to be another 1 - 2 inches of snow tonight... I hate driving in it, but it's fun to play in and look at.

Well, the day went on without a hitch...just bored out of my mind, just trying to learn MS Access and categorizing my CD collection. Well, I guess that's it for today, tomorrow I go back to work and hope that I still have a job at NW, and after that I have to work at Sam Goody (because I played hooky from work today) I ended up waking up late and figured why go in at this point.

I still can't believe that I woke up at 5 something this morning, then fell back asleep, only to wake up at 10:45 AM... Why? I'm still trying to figure that one out... I don't even remember the alarm going off or hitting the snooze bar, which I don't believe that I did... Well, more tomorrow after I get home...

2 jobs and whatevers...

My fiancée had to go back to Missouri today... called into work to let them know that I was going to take her to the airport. Was pretty cold getting to the car, but the weather report said it was about 5 degrees, felt like it was way colder than that, I guess that was because of the wind-chill which was about -30 today. After taking her to the airport, had to go into my other job, working for Sam Goody.

Now that the holidays are over, things are pretty slow at the mall, at the end of the night, with me, 3 people to run the store. At the end of the night, the temperature was about -10, just imagine having to try and start a car in that weather... good thing I have a good battery, if you don't it's difficult to get your car started in that kind of temperature. Made it home and started this journal.

It's difficult to try and remember the past couple of years so I guess I'll just put them in a synopsis of those times.

Work and the Weather

The roads were pretty messy today and the 1 out of the 4 brakes on my car were working... pretty scary trying to drive like that. Left for work early so that I could drive slower and make it in safely. Work was as usual, employees calling because they're passwords expired or the ticket printer isn't printing... Still trying to get those mainframe commands down, hopefully I'll be able to remember them soon, some of the people there are really patient and good about it, understanding that I'm still learning, but I get the feeling that some people are not as patient, but they forget that they were in the same situation when they were training... those people, I can understand because they've been doing this stuff for a while. I'm not a mainframe person, and my experience is from a strong PC background, the commands and software they run are both very different. Oh well...

The New Job...

Work was pretty hectic, being that it's the first work day of a new year, so because of that, they just had me listening in to the calls that were coming in. Other than that, not much going on.. more tomorrow...

Monday, January 04, 1999

After the Holidays

Sam Goody at the mall was busy... people still trying to return gifts that they didn't want or picking up stuff that they wished they had gotten. Well, not much today...

The Web and Relationships

Well worked on my web page last night, Bobbi, my fiancée hates when I work on the computer and don't pay attention to her...but it's something I need to do if I want to get recognized and get work as a web page designer... I guess that's it for now, seems as the new year begins, there's a lot less going on... here that is...
